Our mission

The Max Pack exists so that any dog who needs a home gets one — for as long as they need it, with room to run and a pack to belong to. We're a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Kristen, based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and built around the idea that some dogs don't need a temporary placement. They need somewhere permanent.

Sanctuary, not shelter

Shelters and rescues do vital, difficult work — but they're built around turnover: get a dog in, get a dog adopted, make room for the next one. That model saves an enormous number of lives, and it isn't what we're building.

A sanctuary is different. It's for dogs who, for whatever reason — age, medical needs, behavioral history, or simply bad luck — aren't likely to be adopted through a traditional path. Our promise is that a dog who comes to The Max Pack stays for life, with no clock running and no pressure to make room. Room to run, a pack to belong to, and no expiration date on either.

Why I'm doing this

Some people carry a dream quietly for years. For me, it's always been this one. I've spent my life loving dogs and imagining a place built entirely around their wellbeing — not a way station, but a true home.

We're at the very beginning, and I won't pretend otherwise. Right now it's me, Max, and a vision I believe in deeply. But every sanctuary that's ever existed started exactly here — with one person who refused to let it stay an idea.

Where things stand

The Max Pack is officially incorporated and IRS-approved as a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible charity (EIN 37-2214311). We're now in our "Establish" phase — building a grant-ready foundation and putting the groundwork in place to secure land for the sanctuary itself.
